English Philology students received diplomas for participation in FORTHEM Alliance project

Diplomas confirming active participation in the ‘Let’s Speak European! project were awarded on 5 March 2025.

Students of English Philology participated in the international project Europe Forum 2023-2026 addressed at bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral students from the nine partner universities of the Forthem Alliance. Participants exchanged knowledge, views and experiences during eight two-and-a-half-hour online sessions, which took place from April to November 2024.

The meetings were conducted in English, and topics included, inter allia, the study process, raising motivation and achieving goals, interacting with people from other backgrounds, mental health, self-presentation and public speaking, conflict resolution in the private and international sphere, and learning in the age of artificial intelligence.

The sessions were hosted by project coordinators from each partner university, and the UO was represented by Dr Aleksandra Baryłowicz from the Faculty of Philology. Together with a group of students, she prepared an interesting discussion on the issues of public speaking and self-creation in the context of interaction in mono- and multicultural environments.

As the final part of the project, a group of 10 students and their coordinator will go in June to the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, where workshops and team projects with students from all partner universities are to be conducted.

In addition to the University of Opole and the University of Jyväskylä, the FORTHEM Alliance includes: Johan Gutenberg University Mainz (Germany), University of Burgundy (France), University of Palermo (Italy), University of Latvia (Latvia), University of Valencia (Spain), University of Agder (Norway) and Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (Romania).
